Champlain Hudson Power Express Achieves Another Important Milestone

Transmission Developers Inc. (TDI) today announced that the Champlain Hudson Power Express project has achieved another important milestone in the development of the project -- on Aug 12th, 2010 the Secretary of the New York State Department of Public Service (PSC) issued a letter allowing the project to move into the next phase of public review.

The letter advised TDI that its application for a Certificate of Environmental Compatibility and Public Need under Article VII of New York's Public Service Law is now fully complete.

This important milestone will allow the administrative process to proceed promptly to the evidentiary hearing phase. After the hearings are completed and the PSC has issued its ruling, TDI hopes the project will be able to break ground in the late summer of 2011. TDI's filing is available on the Commission's website at www.dps.state.ny.us.

TDI President and CEO Donald Jessome said, "This is a historic day for this project and for New York State, as it represents a major step forward in our effort to bring clean hydro and wind energy to New York. We look forward to working with state and federal agencies, stakeholders along the route and other interested parties as the review and permitting process moves into the next phase."

The Champlain Hudson Power Express was announced in February 2010. The line will originate at the U.S.-Canadian border and deliver up to 1,000 MW of primarily new hydro and wind power to New York. This clean power will help meet growing demand, increase the security of the electric grid, and reduce energy costs for consumers and businesses.
